2.20 Supporting The Tracker Paging System

The optional Tracker paging system allows you to send alpha/numeric or numeric-only messages

to the Tracker Pagers assigned to a station extension number. The type of message that the

system delivers is dependent on the Tracker Pager model being used. Tracker’s paging option

requires only one connection to the digital telephone system; however, you will need to take

several programming steps to make it operational.

•

If you use station 10 programming to configure the system, install the Tracker base station

to the common equipment cabinet’s RS232 data port A. Then, after you have completed the

installation, take the programming action detailed in section 3.17.

If you use a video display terminal (VDT) to configure the system, it is connected to the

RS232 data port A and you must take programming action before you install Pager. Refer

to IMI66-094, DSU Video Display Terminal Programming Manual if you need more detail,

and follow the installation/programming sequence detailed below.

1. Use the VDT to do the following:

A. If this is a new installation, master clear the system:

1. From the main menu, select System C.O.S. and press Enter.

2. From the System C.O.S. menu select System Defaults and press Enter.

3. From the System Defaults menu, select Master Clear, press Enter, type Y to accept

master clear, and press ENTER to return to System C.O.S. menu.

If this is a software upgrade installation, default all system data.

1. From the main menu, select System C.O.S. and press ENTER.

2. From the System C.O.S. menu select System Defaults and press ENTER.

3. From the System Defaults menu, select Default System Data, press ENTER, type Y

to accept default, and press ENTER to return to system C.O.S. menu.

B. From the System C.O.S. Programming menu, select System Operations

C. From the System Options menu, select Tracker and then select the enable option.

D. Return to the main programming menu and select Station C.O.S.

E. From the Station C.O.S. Programming menu, select Miscellaneous Features

Programming.

F. From the Miscellaneous Features menu, select Display Pager and then enable the Tracker

Pagers for the stations.
